I haven't done a running race since high school, 20 odd years ago.
But I bumped into a friendly guy at Vegfest London in November 2022 and he planted a seed with me. He works for Peta and asked if I'd like to do a sponsorship for them.
I have a love, hate relationship with running, but I thought it would be a win, win, win. Good for my mental health, raising awareness for the most oppressed beings on the planet and a goal to pursue.
So here it is my page for my first 5km.
I started jogging in Novemeber to get the old cob webs off and this picture below is just after I did 5.6km in 42 minutes, no filter, no edits. I walked few times. I stretched after 10 mins and after I got home. I said hello to 3 dogs. I saw a grey squirrel and walked through a flooded path. But I did it.
So why would anyone push themselves? I am passionate about making the world wake the fuck up and stop abusing animals. Man kicks a cat - outrage. Women puts cat in bin - outrage. Humans barbecue innocent baby animals who were gassed to death - give them a pat on the back! Swine Flu and Bird Flu pandemics kill millions of humans and animals - still subsidise the meat industry, carry on as normal. Vegan points out Carnist hypocrisy - militant, aggressive, shaming, egotistical, malnourished, pushy, preachy. Humans put baby animals in gas chambers - no one bats an eye lid. So if it means I have to push myself then so be it.
Peta have been putting a lot of work into helping others for many many years and I will gladly promote them and run for them.
