When I ate animal meat and dairy I tried to help the environment by recycling more, turning off lights and by not wasting water. But actually the thing that would have benefited the world the most was to change the food I was eating. An example is that it takes a crazy huge amount more water to produce animal meat and dairy than it does to make plant foods.
Logically when you look at all the facts, as Howard Lyman says 'You can't call yourself an environmentalist and meat. Period'.
Killing animals is weird.
Nearly 2 years ago I created a poem 'The Cow Song', and never showed it to anyone. I put doubt in my mind that people may not have liked it, or 'Its not good enough'. But actually it has had a great response. If we create something and don't share it we'll never know what people really think. So this is a post about getting the things you create out there, even if you have doubt, whats the worst that can happen by sharing it. In my case the worst is that people wouldn't like it, but thats just their view, so no biggy really. But the best that can happen from sharing things is that we can influence people, cheer them up, entertain them and countless other positive effects!
This person is awesome! She has been collecting an archive of images to show the relationships we as humans have with animals, not just focusing on how great they look aesthetically, but to document all aspects of their lives. Including the truth that a lot of people don't see, the abuse and cruelty that humans inflict on them. Her images are powerful, and amazingly free to use, this so people can see and spread the truth! Her site is here, http://weanimals.org/
She also has a really interesting talk here, where she explains and expolres some of her work over the years!
