I know what you might be thinking, 'its a pipe dream' or 'it's too expensive'. But both of these statements are false. Heres my chat with Chris from Veggie Power, where he shows how his diesel car runs on waste vegetable oil. He also explains more about the other alternative technologies that are available!! More about Veggie Power can be seen here at their website,

One of my friends has an animal sanctuary near Bruton, in Somerset, England. And when I found out I had to go visit. Its coming up to 6 years that I have stopped eating meat (vegetarian/3 years vegan) to help stop animals being killed unnecessarily for food. But this was my first visit to somewhere that homes animals that were having a shit life before.
One of the stand-out animals from the day was a large black and white horse named Eureka. She was a bit temperamental to me at first, but after I fed her some long green grass and some fruit, I gained her trust a little more. She even ran across the field towards me, from one end of the field to the other. Eureka's story - She is a very large horse, and most of her life before the sanctuary she was a breeding mare. Because of her good genes she was seen as an asset or means of production. But for whatever reason the then owners decided that she was not good enough for breeding anymore, and instead of repaying her by giving her a nice home, they were going to send her to be slaughtered. Luckily for her the sanctuary were able to offer her a place to go, and live out the rest of her life! The pigs - I did not find out their stories. But I did get to interact with them! My pig dialect is not very good at the moment, I know 'weeeeeeweeee' and 'oink', but I don't know what either means! I had never seen this breed of pig before, and their eyes are very small compared to the rest of their bodies. But shapes and sizes aside these two definitely had their own personalities. I'm already looking forward to my next trip!! I stumbled across this film about 3 years ago! And each time I watch it I notice something else about it. I've watched it about 10 times now, and put on public showings 4 times! Its an amazing film!! It is only 30 minutes long, but its totally worth it!! Id you click the image below it will take you to Vimeo, where you can watch it for free. The Vegan Society have let me make copies of the film to give away for free, so if you'd like to do the same contact them, or send me an email. Or if you'd like to put your own showing on - GO FOR IT!! Above are some photos that were taken while I was showing the film to people for free.
All I can say is 'Patrik Baboumian'! Fascinating person!! Check out this interesting interview he did below. So I stumbled across this beatboxer a few years ago, and all I can say is "Check out his stuff" and "Awesomeness!!" See what he creates by watching this video!! If you like his stuff he takes it to another level when he performs live. When I saw him play a couple of weeks ago, it was a small insight into the skills he has!! Definitely worth the effort to see live!
So what the Puck is Vegfest? Vegfest is the UKs largest Vegan and Vegetarian festivals, and the next one is in London on the 27th and 28th September!! Theres tonnes of free samples, amazing food, speakers, music, comedians, a cinema area that is showing the UK premier of Cowspiracy!, and so much more!! Some of the speakers in London include Pat Reeves, Neil Robinson, Juliet Gellately, Brendan Brazier, Fiona Oakes, Patrik Baboumian, Kerry McCarthy and so many more!! And among the vegan comedians and performers are Carl Donnelly and Vegan Smythe!! Here is my video from last year which includes some of the speakers, And putting this up reminded me, actually heres me with World Record Holder and Vegan Strongman Patrik Baboumian, as it was, we compared our guns, here I am at the the front (no seriously). There is so much choice as ever, it going be awesome!!! If you can make it, its worth it!!
So when I used to eat red meat (nearly 6 years ago), I did use to eat kebabs. But now I've looked into what is used of animals, and the mounting lies that the public are told. Its interesting that a butcher calls it rump, not ass cheek, and a kebab shop calls it Donner Meat instead of Don-ass (and everything else) meat. Nobody knows whats really in meat these days!! The best option is to avoid it!! Its time to go Veggie!!
So there you are thinking 'I fancy a meal out, but who does a good vegetarian or vegan dish?' Well, there is the option to ring ahead. My previous conversation with an employee at a Caribbean restaurant, it took less than two minutes: Employee - 'Hello, your through to the Turtle Bay Restaurant' Me - 'Hey, I was wondering what on your menu is vegan?' Employee - ' Hi there, give me a second I will pull up our list....' They then read out their options. Another option is to use an eating out guide, there are several out there, and two of them are, Happycow www.happycow.net These guides allow easy access to hundreds of places to eat at, and allow a viewer to search for their personal areas. They are both really handy websites!!
