Tonight he posted an interesting link about the dairy industry in the UK, which says that 1,002 dairy farms have closed in the UK in the last 3 years, and this got me thinking.
Is the dairy industry on the decline?
How much money is subsidised into this industry?
Kerry McCarthy MP made an interesting point -
"Dairy farmers should live by the market and die by the market"
(die as in stop business, or move to something else)
Abit like the miners did, and the steel workers, and the people at woolworths, and the people at MG, and Northern Rock etc.
(This is not a personal attack, it is an overview)
Farmers could always start producing plant milks, theres a lacto-free market and the vegetarians and vegans who would buy it. It would take less water to produce a litre. (cows drink way more water per day than a hemp plant or oats use)
