Thursday Post - Dealing With Online Hate, Animal Farmers, Grow Green - solutions, Debating

I did my first live stream on Facebook recently at a slaughterhouse vigil. And it got a lot of hate, mostly from what I can see it was animal farmers, or those who are in that industry. The video can be seen below.

Everything I said was true, and I didn't make it a 'HATE ANIMAL FARMERS' video, I just said the truth. I feel that there are a few reasons why it got the reactions it did.

- A lot of farmers are in debt
- Veganism is having a massive impact and some are worried about their livelihood (money)
- They are ashamed of people seeing the reality of where animal products come from
- They cannot actually debate Veganism, because they cant justify killing dogs and cats in the Uk, but try to with pigs
- Some are born in to the business, so feel pressure to maintain 'tradition'
- Some people don't like change
- (I am open to other reasons too)

I need to say at this point I know several animal farmers and those in the industry, I do not hate them. I disagree with them, but I don't hate them. I feel that animals farmers should transition to arable, bio fuels, wind, solar, or something else, there is a great scheme to help, www.vegansociety.com/take-action/campaigns/grow-green

So whenever 'hate' is directed at me, like

'someone should put him in a gas chamber'

'You must stop that lorry .... please stop that lorry ... quick jump in front of the wheels head first as it pulls away ... please',

'Get yourself a job sad act'

'you kn** you tw*** dont know the real facts they do not get gassed'

One way I deal with that is this. I remember they are just words they are saying. And I also try to see that there are 2 worlds, there is the world that exists outside the internet, and then there is the internet that is home to some keyboard warriors that would never say these things to my face.

I also try not to insult these people, as I don't think it is productive, it might turn into a playground style exchange. I prefer to remain calm, logical and try to ask them questions from their sometimes outrageous comments. I also try and then debate them, as can be seen in the comment section of this video, Fresh.

In my case my life/wellbeing has been threatened several times for other reasons not just animal rights. And I try to bring it back to the real victims in these scenarios, the animals. (That perspective was influenced by Earthling Ed). They are still being killed everyday in the Uk for food products we don't nutritionally need. They are being separated from their families, killed young and in some insane and cruel ways.

So I must speak up until this changes.
